Mairi Morse
DipArch RIBA
Mairi studied at Cardiff University for RIBA part l and ll under Adam Sharr developing an interest in the qualities of the quotidian in architecture. She gained experience in London practices specialising in the residential and education sectors before moving to Corrigan + Soundy + Kilaiditi Architects in 2008 and completing her professional qualifications. She was made an associate of CSK Architects in 2017.
Mairi has led projects ranging from self-build private residences to multi-million pound educational developments and is currently project architect for the refurbishment and extension of Queens Schools, a collection of buildings which together house the science faculty at Eton College. This is a three year phased development which includes a new atrium at its heart and a new build sixth form roof pavilion for the keen scientists at the college to compliment the traditional cellular laboratory style teaching spaces below. This experimental teaching space will provide a focus for renewable energy and biodiversity providing both a real sustainable benefit and a physical education resource for the whole department.
Mairi also has considerable experience in the residential sector with particular interest in how things are made, the design of the smallest element informing the design of the project as a whole. ‘I enjoy working collaboratively with a wide project team, where the skill and knowledge of craftsmen can be fully employed to the enrichment of the project.’
“My interest in all disciplines of design and the craft of making inform how I work. Viewing my input as a part of the creation of a building alongside other collaborators, from consultants to craftsmen, enables the formation of holistic work, which then goes on to develop further with inhabitation.”
